The culture of Podhale represents an entire philosophy of life.
Our program is a journey through the history, art, and daily life of Podhale, allowing you to discover the authentic essence of the region and fall in love with its magic.
We begin with a visit to the oldest cemetery in Zakopane, Pęksowy Brzyzek, where some of the most eminent Poles who made exceptional contributions to Zakopane and the Tatra Mountains are buried. Almost every gravestone in this small cemetery is a unique work of art.
Our next stop is the historic Gąsienica Sobczak Cottage, one of the most valuable and oldest examples of folk architecture in Zakopane. Here, we can see historic folk furniture, shepherding tools, clothing, and glass paintings. The artistry and rich ornamentation of every object on display will captivate you. The highlight of the day is Villa Koliba, the first building constructed in the Zakopane style. Its interiors demonstrate how local traditions inspired the design of a home combining comfort with unique beauty.
The last cultural stop of our trip is a visit to the Władysław Hasior Gallery. Hasior, a distinguished artist deeply connected to Podhale, experimented with materials, forms, colors, and textures, using various associations to create visual narratives that evoke strong emotions and provoke reflection.
The day's adventures don't end here. The evening will be spent in a highlander inn, where you'll enjoy a special traditional highlander dinner featuring local delicacies and live music. During the meal, our guide will share fascinating stories about the unique culture of Podhale highlanders, their costumes, customs, and music. A highlander band will play on traditional shepherd instruments that you won't find anywhere else in the world.
